Banner Contest

yeah, well i don't know what brushes are for a start lol. i do play around with fonts for other people (i've done some sigs outside of Halo, seem to be better at them) the one i made you had another image placed onto it it wasn't just cropped so yeah i think I'm getting a bit better with it as it's taking me longer to do them lol

i just don't know what it is but i like the ones i make personally cause of their simplicity and i search through like 100 pics and get one sig, but yeah I'm more easily satisfied my first is was a simple one and it was really good. personally complexity dosen't mean better but yeah the one you have now kicks the one i made and yeah complex ones do look awesome but i just like my simple ones.

I'm not saying it has to be complex, but 'flashy' is necessary. If it doesn't catch the eye and make people say "Dang, that took some skill", there is no point in a sig

hahahaha i see more point in sigs than some. and sigs are good if they are flashy but not animated, they don't ever look good unless its like a back ground animation like slow snow fall and even then it's fairly average, well to me it is.

i might be able to do something to the banner i made, i have a few ideas just unsure at this point on how to make them work. i'll see what i can do.

The problem is that most images don't fit perfect with out size forum. I can't find any good images with the MC way to the right or left.

i'll try and find some then make a banner from it.

Its not a banner that we're trying to make right now, its a background.

grrr well uhhh maybe make one of the trailers a background or i dunno something

what about the Halo Wars Image with the squad of Spartans? would that work.

Even if it dosen't its given me an idea for a sig. might mess around with a brush a bit might not (yes i found the brush tool lol)

Edit: just messed around with brushes and anything i tried looked crap on the stuff. so yeah no new sig for me.

(I'm withdrawing from Banner making too, it's a bit complex for me)

why that sig you have now is good though i recomend a border and i'll tell you how if you want. and for brushes the grundge brushes are pretty good.

Yeah with the banner i was trying to make the brushes just didn't work (most of them blurred the whole picture). I would need to make a far more complex banner for it to look any good. I just don't have the inspiration at the moment.

The boarder thing i would like to know though, if you could PM me with directions or something that would be useful. I want to be able to make the image fade into black at the edges.

And by the time i finished writing this post i had a idea again for the Banner lol. though i need to be able to do the boarders thing to carry out my plan.

i agree. but you might want to fix the border ( it has a little gap between the border and sides... may i recommend an black border or something of that fashion. what you do is have your banner open then make a new layer (make sure its on top of everything else) then press i think alt A or something to select all. after that go to that layers properties go do the very bottom one and you can mess with what color, how big, stuff like that.

I'll see what i can do with the border, i have the problem with i can't get it on the very edge of the image otherwise it disappears. And I'll have a look at a black border/ or dark brown.

Edit: yeah i tried the dark border and it just didn't stand out enough. the white one matched better so yeah, i fixed it up a bit and moved it close to the edges.

the beveling 3d thing gave me a idea. what would people think if i made my banner 3d? would that be good?

lol well I'll have a look at it with beveling to see if it looks even more 3d. if it looks gay or identical i won't bother posting it up here.

though while I'm thinking of changing it.......... Avid is there any particular slogan thing you would prefer to be on the banner or just so long as it has "The Maw" its fine?

ok here it is..... now the top is without beveling and the bottom is with beveling (top not 3d bottom with 3d)
