Well, I’ve been at the forums for awhile now(some of you waaaay longer) and I can say that, in terms of Halo Wars suggestions, its been dying down. On the plus side, the halo verse section has gotten very popular and there are lots of noobs to yell at!(Notice how its noob, not newb, as in unintelligent annoying forumer)
I’ve decided to make my own random Halo Related contest thingy, the Design A Vehicle Contest!
Here is how it works.
There are a lot of parts to making a useful halo vehicle. You have to choose how much armor, its weapon, whether it has treads or not, but here is a guide to vehicle submitters on how to list their vehicle.
(everything in parenthesis are not part of the vehicle submitting format)
The Vehicle Submitting Format
(Human Only, Covie Vehicle contest held after Human one)
(Step 1)
Name
(Give your vehicle a name, ones that names accurate to their use are better considered for nomination than others)
(Step 2)
Battle Field Function
(Name what it’s battle field role is, i.e. Long Range artillery, Urban Combat, Tank Destroyer, etc.)
(Step 3)
Description
(Give a paragraph or two description of what it looks like, be realistic)
(Make a picture and post it below the description if you want to)
(Step 4)
Size
(There are 5 sizes to choose from, Very Small, Small, Medium, Large and Very Large)
(I will make size comparisons….
Very Small is to Mongoose
As Small is to Warthog.
Medium is to A Modern Day Tank
As Large is to a Scorpion.
Oh, and Very large is comparable to Warhammer 40k Super Heavy Vehicles)
(Step 5)
Movement Method
(Movement methods are Treads, Wheel or Half Track)
(Treads can take the most damage while Wheels go the fastest. Half Tracks are in the middle so go figure)
(Step 6)
Armor
(Armor Comes in Thicknesses and Areas. Areas are
Front, the front of the tank, not the top, not the bottom, the front
Sides, same values for both sides
Back, The back of the vehicle
Top, Only needed for tanks or other "roofed" vehicles
Turret, Only needed for vehicles with turrets)
(That’s F,S,B,T,T when you type out the values)
(Step 7)
Armament
(That means weapons)
(Weapons come in many forms and set ups.)
(Fixed weapons are attached directly to the base of the tank, and can only shoot straight ahead)
(Turreted weapons have 3 different types, 25%<90 degree angle>, 50% and full. You must say for turrets that can only turn partly around what there center is, Either Forward, Left, Right or Back)
(Step
Components
(These are anything that help the vehicle function. It includes objects from Powerplants to power certain weapons to cargo holds to carry infantry and vehicles)
(Step 9)
Total Cost
(How much this thing costs as a whole)
Let’s see what this looks like for a Scorpion (Not necessarily right)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scorpion
Main Battle Tank
"The Tried and True Scorpion has seen multiple conficts and has proven to be effective at both anti vehicle and anti infantry roles in combat."(Its short, I know, I didn’t provide a visual description with it.)
Large
Treads, top speed of 20 MPH(List the top speed here as well)
Heavy, Heavy, Heavy, Medium, Heavy
1 Turreted Medium Cannon, Full
1 Turreted Machine Gun, Full
None
2080$
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
That was a scorpion in the Vehicle Submitting Format (well call that the VSF)
Oh, and any vehicles not in that format will not even be considered. You can submit up to 2 vehicles.
Next, What You Need to Know to Make Your Vehicle
The Tank Chassis
This is the base of the tank.
You have the 5 sizes to choose from
Very Small – 5 slots and 100$ Max speeds of 100 MPH(yes, I’m American and alas I d’t know the metric system very well because I never use it. Maybe some one could PM me the MPH to KPH conversion equation?)
Small – 10 slots and 200$ Max Speeds of 80 MPH
Medium – 15 slots and 400$ Max Speeds of 60 MPH
Large –20 slots and 800$ Max Speeds of 40 MPH
Very Large – 35 slots and 2000$ Max Speeds of 30 MPH
* min speeds can never go below 10MPH*
Choose Wisely, Slots determine how much armor, components and weapons you can put on a vehicle.
Movement Method
Here you pick your movement method, as mentioned before. Here are the details.
Treads – Strong and Durable but slow. – 15 MPH off of max speed
Half Track – Sturdy and hasty. – 10 MPH off of Max Speed
Wheels – Fast, but weak.
Armor
When putting armor on a vehicle you should first determine what the vehicles combat role is, an artillery piece needs less armor than a battle tank after all.
*Note that these values are for one side of armor only*
None – Takes up no space, costs nothing
Light – each side takes up 0.5 space and costs 50$
Medium – each side takes up 1 space and costs 100$ as well as slow down max speed by 1
Heavy – each side takes up 1 space and costs 200$ as well as slow down max speed by 1
Very heavy – each side takes up 2 space and costs 400$ as well as slow down max speed by 1
Here is the biggest list, Weapons
You may be wondering what weapons you can choose from, trust there are a lot.
Starting with the smallest
Machine gun – Basic anti infantry weapon. Takes up 1 space and costs 50$
Dual Machine guns – 2 machine guns hooked together, takes up only 1 space but cost 150$
Chaingun – Advanced Anti Infantry and Anti Air weapon, takes up 1 space and cost 100$
Large Chaingun – A larger, faster spinning chaingun. Takes up 1 space and costs 175$
Auto Cannon – An automatic cannon, like an anti vehicle(and air) chaingun on steroids. Takes 2 space and costs 250$
Small Cannon – Little Larger size rounds(say, 90mm) than the Auto Cannon but shoots a little slower. Takes 2 space and costs 300$
Medium Cannon – Larger yet, moderately good cannon(say, 130mm). Takes up 3 space and costs 350$
Large cannon – Overkill cannon wise(‘bout 180mm). Takes up 4 space and costs 500$
*all cannons come in dual forms that cost twice as much*
Spartan Laser – Requires a component to work but is Heavy Anti Air and Anti Vehicle. Takes up 2 space and 750$
Dual Spartan Lasers - – Requires a component to work but is Super Heavy Anti Air and Anti Vehicle. Takes up 2 space and 1500$
Mortar – A medium ranged Anti Infantry Mortar. Takes 1 space and costs 500$
Siege Mortar – A huge Mortar Used to wipe out infantry and obliterate fortifications. Takes 2 space and costs 750$
Rockets – They come in 3 forms Anti Air(AA), Anti Vehicle(AV) and Long Range Rockets(LRR)
Turreting
This is where weapons get costly space wise
State which way the center of the turrets are of fire is as either Forward(Fwrd), Left(L), Right(R)or Back(B)
25% turreting adds space usage of a weapon by 1 and cost 50$
50% turreting adds space usage of a weapon by 2 and cost 150$
Full turreting adds space usage of a weapon by 3 and costs 400$
* up to two weapons can be dual turreted in a turret which will double the price*
Components
The nifty gear that ends up winning the day, sorta.
Small Fusion Plant – Required for every single Spartan laser. Takes up 1 space
Large FusionPlant – Required for every dual Spartan laser. Takes up 2 space
Small Cargo hold – can hold up to a squad of infantry or small sized vehicle. Takes up 2 space.
Large Cargo hold – can hold up to a few squads of infantry or a large sized vehicle. Takes 4 space
Engine booster – boosts a vehicles max speed by 5MPH(up untill it hits 10 over the size of the vehicles max speed). Takes up 1 space and costs 600$
Weak Shield Generator – Provides a level of shilding equal to that of light armor. Takes up 2 space and cost 600$.
Strong Shield Generator – Provides a level of shielding equal to that of medium armor. Takes up 4 space and costs 800$
Every empty slot decreases its total cost by 2.5%
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Vehicle
Saber
Super Heavy Main Battle Tank
The Saber is a huge Tank, and is heavily armed and armored. With a dual Spartan Laser Turret mounted on near the back of the top of the chassis, a Siege mortar in the front right and a dual machinegun in the front left and on both sides of the chassis, this vehicle can carry out a number of roles.
It is even known to have gone toe to toe with a scarab and win, hey, that’s a lot of power in a package a quarter of a scarabs size.
Very large
Treads, Top Speed of 15 MPH
Very Heavy, Very Heavy, Very Heavy, Very Heavy, Very Heavy
Turreted Dual Spartan Lasers, Full
Fixed Siege Mortar
Turreted Dual Machine Guns, 25% Fwrd
Turreted Dual Machine Guns, side mounted 50% L
Turreted Dual Machine Guns, side mounted 50% R
Large Fusion Powerplant
Engine Booster
Strong Shield Generator
6336.25$
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s all
I know I went off cannon, but that was so that you could be more creative in designing your vehicle.
Good Luck Vehicle Designers
