| Did you like the retro stylings of Nippon Ichi's PSP RPG ClaDun: This is an RPG? Then you'll probably like the similar retro stylings of Dot Defense. Dot Defense comes our way from System Prism, the Nippon Ichi subsidiary that made ClaDun, or as it's known in Japan, Classic Dungeon. The visual style remains the same here -- sprites that look like they were ripped out of a Super Nintendo game. The genre has changed, though. Dot Defense is a tower defense game, where you position troops to deal with hoards of attacking enemies. It looks like your basic tower defense premise, but as they did with ClaDun, System Prism is giving the game some unique gameplay twists, including an RPG-like equipment and item system which you can use to power up your units before sending them out. System Prism also has download content plans for Dot Defense, with new scenarios, monsters, units and maps on the way. But if you can't wait for the official goods, you're free to make your own stages, as the game has a stage edit mode. This mode even lets you make your own music using a scripting language called Music Macro Language, or MML. Dot Defense saw Japanese PSN release earlier today at 1,200 yen.
