Riddle Poem

This week our English I class was assigned two poems to do for class.. they had specific guidlines and were title the Facade Poem and the Riddle Poem... well the point of this thread is.. well i made a riddle poem which is basically a riddle just plain and simple but slightly different..i shared it with a couple of friends at school and they said it was pretty hard.. but eh idk.. so well i wanted to know what u guys thought of it here ya go..

P.S. i cant put the title because it gives the way the answer

I am in every desert,
But yet there is no desert in me,
For surely if there was I wouldn't be me.
I am what I am,
But if I wasn't what I was,
then I would surely be something.
You cannot touch me,
And yet I am all around you.
I laugh in the face of danger,
Cause danger cannot hurt me.
I cannot die,
And yet I cannot live.
If you look for me you will not find me
And yet in not finding me,
I will be found.
What am I?

i want to say a mirage, cause they appear in deserts, you can't touch it as its not real, but they are always all around you, you can't hurt a mirage as its not there, mirages don't die or live, if your looking for a mirage you won't find it cause you won't notice its fake but even if you don't look you'll find it without knowing. i don't know but thats probably my best guess.

I'd say ORD's guess is pretty solid.
